BART DEFOORT - VICTOR DA COSTA QUARTET

The “Bart Defoort - Victor Da Costa Quartet” has existed for 20 Years! Around 2005 they started to work together on a regular basis. They share a deep passion for the Jazz Language of all the great Jazz Musicians and Composers from the ’40’s, 50’s and 60’s who created the Modern Jazz Language.

The repertoire of their Quartet consists of 2 main features:

- playing their versions of the compositions of many different jazz legends : Bud Powell , Thelonius Monk, Charlie Parker, Horace Silver, Sonny Rollins, Benny Golson , John Coltrane, Wes Montgomery, etc.

- Playing their own Compositions , their “Artefacts” , which are new composed melodies over Harmonic structures of Jazz Standards from the “American Songbook”.

In their two decade existence , they have already enjoyed working and playing with many different great musicians :
Bassists: Victor Foulon, Sam Gerstmans, Bart De Nolf, Jos Machtel. Drums: James Williams, Armando Luongo, Jan De Haas.
The current Quartet (as of 2026) is most of the time with bassist Jos Machtel and drummer Jan De Haas.

The creative and joyous musical Interaction between these musicians is a great pleasure to enjoy for real Jazz Lovers. Sit back and relax , and let yourself be taken along on a trip of hard swinging jazztunes and moving Ballads.
